Swim Lessons

Sea Love Swim private lessons for Toddlers, ages 2 and 3 years old, are 25 - 30 minutes long.

We teach our Toddlers with love and encouragement. Our Swimming Lessons are designed to meet our Toddlers where they are comfortable in the water and gently progress them forward using Sea Love Swim building block techniques.

At 2 and 3 years old we do not have parents in the water however, we do encourage our parents to be within view of their child's lesson so they can help promote their swimmers successful steps toward water safety from the pool deck.

Should you feel your child is not emotionally ready for private swim lessons without you in the water and they are under 30 months of age, we recommend booking our Parent / Tot private lesson where we equip you with our First Steps to Water Safety skills.

How Frequently Should My Toddler Have Swim Lessons?

At Sea Love Swim we maintain that any consistent exposure to water in a formal setting will help a child aquire swimming skills however it is proven that consistency and frequency both play key rolls when learning something new. This is why we recommend toddlers and pre-k swimmers participate in lessons at least twice a week if not more for cognitive and muscle memory of water safety skills.

Toddler years are the highest for risk of drowning.

The sad fact is that drowning is the leading cause of injury death in children ages 1-4 and the biggest factor in this is unexpected, unsupervised access to water. To make matters worse, young children can drown in as little as an inch or two of water, and it can happen silently and in just moments.

While it is proven that swimming lessons are extremely beneficial for toddlers, (the National Drowning and Prevention Society states that swimming lessons can reduce the risk of drowning by 88%) raising awareness regarding steps parents can take to protect their children goes hand in hand. Here are a few steps to help equip your family against this horrifying drowning statistic for toddlers.

Always provide constant "touch supervision," - be within arms reach. of your toddler, whether it's bath time or swim time.

Remember that swimming lessons help promote and assist your toddler in learning water safety skills. This does not make your child water safe so always get into the water with your toddler when swimming and when you need to get out, take them with you.

Toddlers and others who lack strong swim skills should wear Coast Guard approved life jackets when at a pool or water park.

69% of all drownings among toddlers, age 4 and younger happen during non-swim times so consider blocking unsupervised access to bathrooms including the removal of the bath tub drain plug when it's not in use to avoid the tub filling if a child turns on the faucet.

Swimming Lessons are an integral part of water-safety preparedness. Consider downloading our First Steps to Water Safety Virtual Course or book with a Sea Love Swim instructor today.
